Chase The Blues Away With These
Lovely Blueberry Dessert Recipes
Find your favourite blueberry dessert from our blueberry dessert recipes page here. Blueberries (fresh, frozen or puree) are used either to decorate cakes along with other garnishings, as pie or crepes fillings or as fillings for layered desserts. And I am sure you love blueberry muffins? I, for one, cannot resist them!
If you are adventurous and just love yoghurt, mix these blueberries with some yogurt and layer alternately with low fat whipped cream flavoured with rum, sprinkle with chocolate flakes - and there you have it, a quick blueberry dessert on any hot sunny afternoon. Another good reason to stay indoors, if you ask me.
The refreshingly sweet sour taste of blueberries complement cheese very well and make for excellent cream cheese desserts. That is why it is a favourite fruit used for cream cheese desserts other than strawberries. It can even spruce up a simple cheesecake recipe - top cheesecakes with frozen blueberries or mix these fruits into the cream cheese layer for a no bake cheesecake.
A point to note though, if you are using freshing blueberries for desserts. It makes a whole lot of difference how you store your blueberries. Always keep them refrigerated, clear wrapped in a container so as to extend their freshness. Avoid washing with water altogether as this will actually speed up the deterioration process!
