Chocolate Chip Pie



Chocolate Chip Pie is one of the great dessert recipes for chocolate pie recipes.

Instead of cooking chocolate, this best chocolate dessert calls for chocolate chips which will provide a chewy texture to the filling.

As a variant, you can also garnish this recipe with nuts of your choice - toasted almond flakes, for example.



Ingredients For Crust
1 cup			        	All Purpose Flour; sifted
1/4 tsp				Salt
1/4 cup				Ice Water
125 g			        	Cold Butter	

Ingredients for Filling
170 g Sweet Chocolate Chips 1 Large Egg; beaten 2 Egg Yolks; beaten 2 Egg Whites 450 ml Whipping Cream; whipped 1 tsp Vanilla Essence 1/2 tsp Rum

Method

To prepare crust, mix sifted flour with salt. Blend cold butter into flour mixture with a pastry cutter. Add chilled water gradually until mixture becomes doughy enough to roll out. Lightly dust worktop and rolling pin with flour. Roll dough out thinly and line pie dish with pie dough. Bake at 180°C for 20 to 30 minutes or until crust is golden brown.

To prepare filling. Melt chocolate chips with 1 beaten egg. Remove from heat and quickly stir in eggs yolks. Meanwhile, whisk egg whites in another bowl until stiff and add to whipped cream. Add vanilla essence and rum and gently fold into chocolate mixture. Fill pie crust with chocolate mixture. Bake at 180°C for 10 minutes or until filling is just set. Allow to cool before storing in fridge. This chocolate pie baking recipes is best served chilled.

- prick crust top with fork
