Diabetic Pie Crust Recipes

You may also want to bake your own diabetic pie crust as opposed to buying ready made ones when making cheesecake or pie recipes. This is especially true when making diabetic dessert recipes as it is extremely hard to find readymade products that are true desserts for diabetics.

Well, although ready made crusts usually come with neat trimmings, you can always make your own look as good. Nonetheless, you want to enjoy the best desserts. Adding decorative patterns along the outer edges of the crust is also easily achieved using no more than your index finger and thumb or by making tidy impressions with a fork or just about anything you can think of.

The crust which is tasty and biscuit-like will complement the pie fillings well. Your pie will taste stale if the crust shell is soft and bland. I personally find that sprinkling lemon juice onto the crust brings out the best in the pie. It really works.

Sesame Pie Crust

Ingredients

1 cup Whole Grain Wheat Flour
1/2 cup Sesame Seeds
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 cup Corn Oil
3 tbsp Chilled Orange Juice
1 tbsp Chilled Lemon Juice

Method

Mix flour with sesame seeds and salt. Add corn oil and mix with fingertips until dough resemble breadcrumbs. Add orange and lemon juice. Knead awhile until dough is just smooth. Line baking pan with dough. Poke several tiny holes onto dough so that pie is evenly baked and no bumps formed. Bake at 190°C.
