Healthy Dessert Recipe

Lowfat Ice Cream

Looking for easy low fat desserts or easy healthy recipes? Try this LowFat Ice Cream, the healthy dessert recipe that you will be able to follow easily. These ideal homemade ice cream desserts can be made with your favourite flavour and do not use milk, so will be suitable for the lactose-intolerant.

For best flavour, add in juices or essences after the ice cream mixture has cooled. If you wish to add chopped nuts or chocolate chips for the extra crunch, only add them in during the last stage of churning. Homemade ice creams can keep up to a week but well, I do not think anyone can resist keeping it that long!

Note : For those who have and use an ice cream maker, fill it 3/4 full to allow ice cream to aerate properly. If not you can always check out these great ice cream makers from Amazon.

Ingredients

470 ml Water
30 g Butter
3 Large Eggs; whites and yolks separated
2/3 cup Fine Sugar
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
1 tbsp Lemon Peel
1 tbsp Orange Juice

Method

Whisk egg whites until stiff and frothy. Set aside first.

Cream sugar and yolks together until pale and creamy. Add water and butter and stir mixture in a double boiler until it begins to boil. Remove from heat. Allow ice cream batter to cool before adding in juices and peel. Stir in whisked egg whites. Freeze in an ice cream freezer.
