Chocolate Dessert Recipes

Milo Brownies

This simple chocolate desserts Milo Brownies was introduced by my sister during her university days. She was then staying in a hostel. I visited her one day and she offered me the brownies.

I immediately fell in love with them - the combination of cereal with chocolate from Milo beverage powder was totally awesome. I lost count of how many helpings I had that day, it was really that good. I dare say it was one of the best desserts I have ever tasted up to that point.

The brownies were also a hit with her university mates - there were no oven in their hostel, so these no bake desserts suit them well. It became the favourite recipe from the various chocolate dessert recipes they have in hand. It was prepared almost every weekend for everyone to enjoy!

Ingredients

375 g Butter; softened at room temperature
1/2 cup Castor Sugar
8 Eggs
3/4 cup Milo Beverage Powder
3/4 cup Nestum Cereal
1/2 cup Cocoa Powder
1/2 cup Water
1/2 cup Condensed Milk
600 g Marie Biscuits

Method

Mix together all ingredients except Marie biscuits. Heat mixture over slow fire. When mixture thickens, add in biscuits. Turn off heat. Just gently break the biscuits into quarters as you mix them into the chocolate mixture. Press mixture firmly into a square pan. Allow to cool.

Chill well in refrigerator. Cut into squares when serving. The biscuit pieces give a nice layered look to the brownie squares.
