Diabetic Dessert Recipes

Orange Lime Sherbet

The Orange Lime Sherbet recipe is one of the diabetic dessert recipes which most will want to make as an after meal dessert. The citrus scent and tangy taste of orange and lime will certainly enhance the flavour of any diabetic desserts.

You may add more milk if you would like to enjoy a creamier sherbet. Sherbets are easy desserts to dish up and even kids can prepare this effortlessly. You can serve sherbet in mini glasses or bowls and decorate with mint leaves or fruit slices.

Ingredients

1 cup Orange Juice
1 tsp Gelatine Powder, unflavoured
2 tbsp Lime Juice
1 tbsp Grated Orange Peel
2 tbsp Sugar Substitute
2/3 cup Dry Milk Powder; non-fat
1/2 cup Ice-cold Water

Method

Sprinkle gelatine powder into orange juice. Cook this mixture over very low heat until gelatine has dissolved. Turn off heat and add in lime juice. Stir in orange peel and sugar substitute. Leave to cool.

Meanwhile, beat milk powder with 1/2 cup of ice water at high speed until stiff peaks form. Stir in the cooled gelatine mixture until well-blended. Pour into desired glasses or bowls and freeze sherbet for at least 4 hours. The sherbet is ready to be served when it is firm.
