Streusel Walnut Cake

The Streusel Walnut Cake is as flavourful as any baking recipes can get, to say the least. The cinnamon in this dessert recipes certainly gives it a distinctive flavour.

To enjoy them best desserts like this are most delicious when served hot.

Ingredients

Batter A: Cake
165 g Self-raising Flour, sifted
150 g Castor Sugar
2 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 tsp Salt
70 g Butter
180 g Fresh Milk
1 Large Egg; lightly beaten

Batter B: Streusel Filling
50 g Chopped Walnuts
40 g Self-raising Flour; sifted
150 g Brown sugar
1 tsp Cinnamon Powder
45 g Butter; melted

Method

Batter A:
Blend butter with sugar well before gradually adding the egg. Inadequate creaming may result in close-texture cakes and speckling on the surface of the cake.

Sift self-raising flour with baking powder. Then fold in the flour with a spatula.

Batter B (Filling):
Blend well the filling ingredients.

Pour half of batter A onto greased baking pan. Sprinkle onto batter A the streusel filling. Repeat this until both batter and filling are finished.

Bake at 180°C for 25 to 30 minutes. A good way to test if the cake is ready is to poke the cake with a cocktail stick or a toothpick. It should come out clean if it is well done.

Serve while the sponge cake is still hot as the taste of the streusel filling will be at its best!
