Yule Apple Pudding

Pudding desserts like the Yule Apple Pudding in our Christmas dessert recipes here are some of the best Christmas desserts you can prepare for this merry-making season. This pudding can be savoured with custard sauce or chocolate sauce. If desired, you can add rum to the chocolate sauce before drizzling over your pudding slice.

Ingredients
6 Granny Smith Apples; peeled and sliced
1 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Mixed Spice
3 tbsp Brown Sugar
100 g Butter
80 g Castor Sugar
2 Eggs
100 g Self-raising Flour
2 tbsp Heavy Cream
1/2 cup Almond Flakes
1 cup Chocolate Sauce

Method

Place sliced apples in a saucepan of water. The water should be just enough to cover the apple slices. Add cinnamon powder and brown sugar and cook for 5 minutes. Drain water and transfer cooked apple slices into baking dish. Set aside.

Cream butter and castor sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition. Fold in flour, alternating with heavy cream.

Pour butter mixture onto apple slices. Sprinkle evenly with almond flakes and ground cinnamon. Bake at 180ºC until pudding turns golden brown. Best if serve with chocolate sauce.
